What Is Statutory Parental Leave?

Statutory Parental Leave covers a range of employee entitlements:

  • Statutory Maternity Leave (SML)

  • Statutory Shared Parental Leave (SPL)

  • Statutory Paternity Leave

  • Statutory Adoption Leave (SAL)

  • Unpaid Parental Leave

Employees may be eligible for statutory pay, such as:

  • Statutory Maternity Pay (SMP) – Up to 39 weeks

  • Statutory Paternity Pay (SPP) – Up to 2 weeks

  • Shared Parental Pay (ShPP) – Shared between partners up to 37 weeks
